Carl Zittrer is a Canadian composer, who has done the score for such films as,
Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things (1973), Deranged (1974), Dead Of Night (1974), Black Christmas (1974),
Murder By Decree (1979) (for which he won the Genie Award for Best Achievement In Music - Original Score),
Prom Night (1980), Porky's (1982), Porky's II: The Next Day (1983), A Christmas Story (1983) and others.
Black Christmas (alternate titles include Silent Night, Evil Night and Stranger In The House)
is a Canadian psychological slasher film directed by Bob Clark (August 5, 1939 – April 4, 2007) and written by A. Roy Moore.
The story follows a group of sorority sisters who are receiving threatening phone calls,
while being stalked and murdered during the holiday season by a deranged murderer.
The film was inspired by a series of murders that took place in the Westmount section of Montreal, Quebec,
and the urban legend "The Babysitter And The Man Upstairs".
Years after its release, Black Christmas has received respected praise and is generally considered to be one
of the earliest slasher films, served as an influence for Halloween, and has become a cult classic.
Carl Zittrer, stated in an interview that he created the film's mysterious music by tying forks,
combs, and knives onto the strings of the piano in order to warp the sound of the keys.
Zittrer also stated that he would distort the sound further by recording it onto an audio tape and make the sound slower.
The disturbing phone calls was performed by actor Nick Mancuso, director Bob Clark, and an unknown actress.
Mancuso stated in an interview that he would stand on his head during the recording sessions
to make his voice sound more demented.
The haunting, dissonant score that had never been released in any format
and thought to be lost or destroyed for 40 years was finally pressed in 2016 on vinyl by Waxwork Records,
that worked for a year with composer Carl Zittrer researching and tracking down the original masters.
After locating them, Zittrer spent many months constructing a cohesive Black Christmas soundtrack.
The entire album was then mastered and pressed on 180 gram clear vinyl and on a clear with blood splatter vinyl.
The Memory link contains the dvd-rip version of the soundtrack and not the Waxwork Records version.

Lago has also participated in many projects like Alien Pathway 22, And The Posters

Crisantemo Nero, Immortal Agony, Kurai Keshiki and Lost Fairy Realm.
His music is a blend of experimental-post-industrial, noise and dark ambient

with a gothic atmosphere inspired by old novels and tales.
It could be called "gothic ambient", but it should not be mistaken
for the typically keyboard-based works from other well known projects.
Terror and fear sonorities are created processing electrically natural noises and sounds,

not taken from keyboards and neither following any musical composition theory nor using a sequencer.
The first tapes were industrial experiments rather obscure and perverse while the production of CDs

were something original, both as background idea and inspiration and as sonorous atmosphere.
Most of the band's releases were issued by the Italian cassette label Psychotic Release that is run by Emanuele Lago

and is specialized in industrial, ambient, ritual, and gothic music.
The label stopped operating in 1999 and restarted in 2012 to make CDRs and cassettes
but only for Lago's and friends' projects.
Today the band is continuing under the name Black Mountains Chronicles.

with singer Tatiana Echeverri Fernandez.
In 1995 they released their eponymous 4-track demo tape.
Many strong live performances lead to Cadra Ash's reputation as a band of high potentials.
Several interviews and a contribution to the "Gothic Grimoire" compilation helped them to become recognized.
Tatiana Fernandez left the band in late 1996, while Tom Dornebusch

temporarily played for the gothic rock band The House of Usher as a guest musician.
Shortly thereafter singer Rabea Lange completed the line-up again.
In the spring of 1998 Cadra Ash released their "Secrets" MCD as a part of the split-CD

"Emanation The Sounds Of New Hope Part III" with the label Alice In...
also featuring the bands Pictures Of Agony and Salt Of Anguish.

The band produced various MCDs in different editions, partly in their own production.
Their last release was a promo MCD that was actually a pre-listening of their planned album "Everything's Gone By",

Grabesmond – In Schwindendem Licht (Demo 1995)

Country: Austria

Tracklist
1. In Schwindendem Licht 20:29

Grabesmond was formed in 1995 by Protector (Summoning, Ice Ages) and Peter Kubik (Abigor).
They released a limited demo to 30 copies entitled "In Schwindendem Licht".
The reason why they formed Grabesmond was because they wanted to experiment how to create emotions,
and dark atmospheres besides the scene they were mainly involved in.
But because of lack of dedication they split up after a few months.
In 1996, when Lucia-Mariam Fåroutan (Peter's wife) came to Austria, Peter told her about Grabesmond
and she heard the demo, and because Lucia was very interested in starting a band,
she decided to resurrect Grabesmond and to enter different musical paths.
In spring 1997 an advance tape with a few songs were recorded and sent to Draenor Productions, and a few weeks later
Grabesmond signed there, and recorded the debut CD "Mordenheim" in October 1997 at Tonstudio Hoernix
"Mordenheim" offered a kind of unique, yet strange and non-typical material that can be described as mystical, medieval, avantgardistic and classically influenced, because of it's various spectrum of art that unfolds.
After a break of about one year the recordings for a new album began in early 1999.
"Xenoglossie" was recorded in 9 days at Tonstudio Hornix and showed a more 'modern' direction of Grabesmond's music.
The 15 songs of "Xenoglossie" unleashed soundscapes of beautiful dreamworlds, classical compositions,
to machinelike visions with pounding percussion, distorted effects and female vocals.

C.O. Caspar (born in 1936) lives in Berlin and Sweden as a datoist, conceptor, constructor, author, theoretician and xeroxer.  He works as a soloist, workshop organizer, actionist and musician
with sound tools as installation, with projections and light art.
His medium is the processing of concrete tones and noises by means of digital equipment.
Sound is planned as scenaric tone and speech acts, and is spontaneously developed
from the original impulses of the sounding body - also in cooperation with other players.
The sounding bodies consist of industrial material such as pipes, hoses, turbines, and constructions of metal,
plastic, and latex hung on chains and, independently and by means of manual influencing, develop vibrating
and sometimes chance dynamics in accordance with the qualities of the materials and construction.
Microphone articulation is the human component.
Inductive regulation of the torque controls turbines, drives membranes to rhythmic mega-frequent vibration,
falling rising weaving vital intuitive bio-mechanoid vibrates roars the volume of the latex at 30-16000 Hertz.
Metal hollow bodies, feedback systems, magnetic field sensors produce material tones, organic & acoustic feedback loops.  The audiovisual work is the result of the connection between mechanical & digital devices,
offered as a sonic installation, as a performance based theatrical staging.
CHoCH - Chants Of Change was released in 1994 through Tesco Organisation

Soma was an instrumental, electronic/organic/cinematic project
featuring the talents of Australian composers David Thrussel, of Black Lung and Snog fame,
and Pieter Bourke known from his collaborations with Lisa Gerrard of Dead Can Dance.
The music of Soma is built on the relationship and alliance between
melodic/danceable structures and masses of various "found" sounds.
The overall effect invokes a cascade of B-grade psychological/horror/thrillers, spaghetti westerns,
strangely political sci-fi films and a vast volume of the finest conspiracy literature.
The duo began working together in 1993 when Thrussell approached Bourke
about the possibility of remixing some tracks of Bourke's band Eden.
The Eden remixing sessions yielded the first Soma compositions.
Soma developed into a full-time project when Bourke moved in with Thrussell
after a fire had destroyed his flat, allowing the two more time to work together.
Their debut self titled album was released in 1993 followed by "Hollow Earth" in 1994
and featured most of the tracks of "Soma" album slightly revised and was well-received critically.
In 1996 they released "The Inner Cinema" album that was issued, like their previous one, on Extreme Records.

Ever Dark was formed in February 1990 by Storm and John "Berzerker".
From day one they sought to lead and create their own style of "Dark Graveyard Metal".
Their three song demo "Christian Execution" never came into existence.
In 1991 Storm left the first line-up behind for a second one, which failed, so in 1992 the band split up.
In February '93 John talked Storm into reforming the band with John's previous band members.
After that Chris joined the band and in May '93 Jay came as session drummer but later he joined fully.
The band wrote 4 new songs, 3 of which were recorded for their "Gravesite Rites" demo that was released in 1994.
Late May '94 they recruited Tom for a twin lead guitar team and they played a few huge gigs to promote the band.
The demo-sales were going pretty good and soon Full Moon Productions approached them for a 7" EP

which later ended up as a planned split CD with Naglfar.
The split CD never happened so Full Moon had them record a mini CD entitled "Armageddon's Birth",

unleashing 4 new tracks and a demo song.
In the summer of 1996 Ever Dark signed to II Moons.
The recording for their first full length album, entitled "Not Of God" started in October '96 and released in 1997.
After the release of the album the band ceased to exist although there are rumors

that they assembled in 2006 and split up again in 2010.

The MCD was released by Cysboileed Productions and featured
two lengthy songs of atmospheric and melodic black metal and an outro.
A second MCD was supposed to follow up but this was never happened.
Nowadays Giuseppe Orlando plays drums for Deinonychus, Airlines Of Terror and The Foreshadowing

Andrzej Korzyński (born March 2, 1940 in Warsaw, Poland) is a Polish composer, arranger, pianist and organist.
In 1964 he graduated from the Social State Higher School of Music in Warsaw.
He was a disciple of prof. Kazimierz Sikorski and studied composition and conducting.
In 1965, together with Mateusz Święcicki and Witold Pograniczny founded Radio Studio "Rytm".
His creative partnership with Polish filmmaker Andrzej Żuławski
is probably the most enduring and creatively fertile chapter in Korzyński’s career.
The pair first worked together on Żuławski’s debut feature "The Third Part of the Night",
and they would work on two more, "Devil" (1972) and "The Important Thing Is to Love" (1975),
before they would create what would be their defining and best work, 1981’s "Possession".
Starring Sam Neil and Isabelle Adjani, the film was banned in the United Kingdom under the notorious Video Nasties list,
but earned a dedicated cult following in the decades that followed.
Korzyński’s minimal electronic score was highly sought after by collectors for many years until 2012,
when the revered Finders Keepers label lovingly reissued it along with "The Third Part of the Night".
The fruitful partnership of Żuławski and Korzyński would be seen and heard again on the films
"On the Silver Globe" (1988), "Szamanka" (1996), and "Fidelity" (2000).
Throughout the ‘90s and 2000s, the Polish composer continued to work on various TV and film projects.

After the demo they decided to expand to a five-man set,
mainly because of the impossibilities of playing a real live set with just two men.
A bit later Palokangas decided to concentrate mainly to the guitar work
and Antti Haapapuro (also in Dolorian, Aeoga, Arktau Eos, Halo Manash and I.corax) joined the band as a vocalist.
In the summer of 1997 Black Swan started playing live shows steadily and recorded their second demo ''Autumn In Eden''.

8. Cassandra's Nightmare 08:27

Xenomorph is the one-man band of Mark Petrick, based in Berlin, Germany.
The band is considered one of the veterans in the trance scene who has played live shows in many countries.
Mark sees himself as the inventor of horror-trance, a unique style that was unprecedented in 1996 when he created songs like "Obscure Spectre" which has upset many goa-people and was considered "unspiritual" or "un-goa-ish".
Regardless of the initial anti-sentiment against his music he has kept and refined his style throughout the years
in which the community has become more open and appreciative for dark music.
Unlike most younger trance artists who just listen to trance music, Mark was exposed to a multitude
of musical influences like new wave, punk/post-punk, gothic, rock-music, death-rock, industrial, EBM,
power-noise, death-metal, crossover/hardcore as well as classical music and soundtracks.
He started to be musically active in 1985 as a bass-player in a goth-band called "Fog Drowning".
In 1990 he formed his own EBM band "Terminal Warfare" in which he was the lead singer and has composed the songs.
He then joined the local band "Whippet Of Trench" as a keyboard player besides his own project one year later.
Due to him being a multi-instrumentalist, he was asked to play guitar/bass and keyboards
for a couple of shows with the local industrial band "The Unknown" in 1993.
As an enthusiastic fan of death-metal, he also found himself in loose collaborations with local death-metal bands
as an audio-engineer/guitarist for their demo-recordings in the studio.
After a long time of inspiration the second Xenomorph album "Qlippoth" was released in 2003
on Gnostic Records which is Xenomorph's own record label.
Until today Xenomorph has continued to produce cutting-edge dark electronic music and he has done
the mastering post-production for more than 30 releases of various labels.
In November 2007 the 3rd Xenomorph Album "Demagoguery Of The Obscurants" was released.
It contains 10 quite different tracks packed into an elaborate concept critically reflecting current, past
and future world events already prophesizing the economic crisis of 2009 and the formation of the New World Order.

Jackal's Truth ‎– Promo 98 (Demo 1998)

Country: Greece

Tracklist
1. The Quest Of The Ultimate Knowledge 07:24
2. Acherontas 05:28
3. Fovos - The Two Horned Man (Bonus Track) 05:40

Jackal's Truth was formed in early 1996 in Larissa, Greece by Kostas (vocals/guitars) and George A. (drums).
In the summer Zacharias (guitars) and George (bass) joined the group to complete the lineup.
In the autumn of 1996 they went to the studio to record their debut demo "Dominus Silvae" which was released in 1997,
with the help of Agapi (female vocals) and Grigoris P. (keyboards/sound engineer).
The respond that the band got for their demo was great and helped them to perform live
with bands such as Rotting Christ, Kawir, Exhumation and other local bands.
After the demo was released, Stefanos (also member of Stardrowned) joined the band as their keyboard player
while Greg replaced George on bass and the band went on and recorded their 2nd release,
called "Promo 98" which was exclusively for record companies.
The tracks on the promo were more extreme, technical and melodic than the ones on the demo.
Unfortunately, Jackal's Truth didn't make it in time and the band split up in 2000.
The Memory link contains as a bonus the amazing track "Fovos - The Two Horned Man".

2. Blood + Bone 14:57
3. Fall 07:35
4. Open Your Eyes And See Death 12:41
5. Drift III 13:38

En Nihil (originally under the name Nihil) formed in 1994, in California, by Adam Fritz
and over the course of 3 years from 1994 to 1997 created a substantial amount of music
stretching into every subgenre of the experimental realm.
Everything from tribal rhythms, ethereal drifts, dark ambient, chaotic harsh noise, death industrial,
cut-up sound collages, field recordings and so on, all of them with a dark, emotional side
ranging from minimalism to detailed, heavily layered and intricate productions to pure improvisation.
"Death Keeps" articulates a deep fascination with death, not the physical, but the emotional aspect
and the fear of the most inevitable fate we will all share.
The album was recorded between October 1995 - October 1996 and released by Red Stream in 1997.
After 13 years of silence, En Nihil returned to recording in 2010,

Country: Finland

Tracklist
1. Desolated Colours 07:19

3. A Part Of Darkness 06:24
4. When All The Laughter Has Gone 05:52
5. Collapsed 09:18

Dolorian is a doom metal band from Oulu, Finland.
Their early recordings are viewed as some of the earliest examples of blackened doom metal.
Later recordings mixed dark ambient music with the traditional doom metal style.
The band was founded in mid-1997 as a duo consisting of Anti Haapapuro and Ari Kukkohovi.
Their combination of varied songs, structures and melodies, several vocal styles,
and obscure spiritual lyrics set the band apart from many others in their genre.
Dolorian recorded their first demos in autumn 1997 at Tico-Tico Studios with temporary keyboard player H. Riihinen.
They were subsequently signed with Wounded Love Records.
In 1998 the band along with their new keyboard player J. Ontero
recorded the debut album "When All The Laughter Has Gone" that was released in 1999.
The following year, the band recorded their second album entitled "Dolorian".
The self-titled album was a continuation of the black doom sound of their debut
with much quieter vocals and a more psychedelic and ambient approach.
In 2002, Dolorian recorded songs for a split release with Shining, but record label problems delayed its release until 2003.
In 2006, the band released their third album, "Voidwards",
which demonstrated a further shift in their sound and included the usage of dark ambient elements.
All the members of the band are involved in dark ambient projects (such as Arktau Eos, Halo Manash
Aeoga and I.corax, as well in the 90's melodic black metal band Black Swan),
which has likely shifted their concentration away from Dolorian.
