 "The House That Dripped Blood" is a 1971 British anthology horror film

directed by Peter Duffell and made by Amicus Productions.

It stars Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Nyree Dawn Porter, Denholm Elliott and Jon Pertwee.

The film is a collection of four short stories concerning a series of inhabitants of the eponymous building.

All of the stories were originally written, and subsequently scripted, by Robert Bloch (Psycho).
The soundtrack of the film was written by English composer Michael Dress (July 9, 1935 - April 11, 1975).
Not a lot is known about Dress, growing up in Berlin, Germany, he taught expressionist dance, relocated to London,

worked as a composer at BBC and musical director, wrote an opera and composed music for the theater and films. 
His short filmography include "Quackser Fortune Has A Cousin In The Bronx", which starred a very young Gene Wilder,

the sci-fi film, "The Mind Of Mr. Soames", as well as "A Touch Of Love", starring Sandy Dennis.
For "The House That Dripped Blood", Dress used a lot of percussion and weird effects, organ, harpsichord,

a solo female voice floating in the air, vibes and strings, all creating a very hallucinogenic and haunting atmosphere,

that gives the stories in the film an interesting texture and feel.

Demon Pond (Japanese: 夜叉ヶ池) is a 1979 Japanese romantic fantasy film directed by Masahiro Shinoda.

It is an adaptation of the 1913 play of the same name by Izumi Kyōka,

with an adapted screenplay written by Haruhiko Mimura and Tsutomu Tamura.
The film stars Tsutomu Yamazaki, Go Kato and Kabuki actor Tamasaburo Bando.
The story is set in Japan in the 1930s where a scholar visits a drought-stricken village

and finds his missing friend guarding a mystical mountain pond.

The friend must ring a sacred bell daily to prevent an imprisoned dragon god from unleashing an apocalyptic flood.
The film's score, composed by Isao Tomita, heavily utilizes Moog synthesizers, mixing classical and electronic music genres.

Scenes taking place on dry land are often accompanied by Tomita's arrangement of pieces by composer Claude Debussy,

whereas underwater scenes are scored by Tomita's arrangement of Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures At An Exhibition".
Isao Tomita (冨田 勲 22 April 1932 – 5 May 2016) was a Japanese composer regarded as one of the pioneers

of electronic and space music as well as one of the most famous producers of analog synthesizer arrangements.
In addition to creating note-by-note realizations, Tomita made extensive use of the sound-design capabilities

of his instrument, using synthesizers to create new sounds to accompany and enhance

his electronic realizations of acoustic instruments.
He also made effective use of analog music sequencers and the Mellotron, and featured futuristic science-fiction themes,

while laying the foundations for synth-pop music and trance-like rhythms.
Many of his albums are electronic versions and adaptations of familiar classical music pieces.
He received four Grammy nominations for his 1974 album based on music by Claude Debussy, "Snowflakes Are Dancing".

 ACTUS (Archaic Cultic Traditions United in a Society) has been preparing

together with other branches of artistic activity (video, dance) since 1987 and has carried out its work

in the spirit of metaphysical traditions of universal strength hidden behind historical forms

differing both ethnically and geographically.
The story of ACTUS formed as an artistic project dates back to 1987, and its goal remained unchanged throughout the years: to create works, which demonstrate the crisis penetrating our world, but even more importantly,

works which are in accordance with the eternal measure, and which always carry the notion of uplifting catharsis

and at the same time can present their receiver with the joy of reinvention listen after listen.
Their releases leave no doubt about the group’s consistency, no compromise has ever affected the original concept

and this resulted in high reputation all over the world among fans of quality, spiritually dominated contemporary arts.
Starting out from the early experimental, post-industrial, electronic scene, 

the band gradually started to put acoustic instruments to use.
Their albums feature symphonic sounds, acoustic guitars, folk instruments, percussion, heroic choirs, recitations

and lyrics that are sprouting from the clearest source, the traditional worldview.

ACTUS studies original knowledge, which concentrates on answering essential questions

from the perspective of apocalyptic historical humanity, whereby it endeavors to create a new golden age.

Avrigus are a two piece gothic/doom metal band with neoclassical/darkwave passages from Sydney, Australia.
The band was formed in 1995 and consisted, at the time, of Simon Gruer and Judy Chiara.
Simon Gruer was well known in the Sydney metal scene since due to his role in the death/doom metal band Cruciform.
Avrigus first release saw the light of day in 1998 with the very well received EP "The Final Wish"

that was released on Warhead Records.
In 2001 the album "The Secret Kingdom" was followed on Well Of Urd, a division of the Dutch label Hammerheart Records.
In 2007 it was announced that Judy Chiara had left the band late in the previous year.
Despite this Simon continued with Avrigus and in 2009 it was announced that the new vocalist would be Megan Robins.
"Beauty And Pain" EP was finally released in 2010 with Megan Robins on vocals.
A single called "The Aftermath" was also published in 2017.

 Bruno Nicolai (20 May 1926 – 16 August 1991) was an Italian film music composer, orchestra director,

conductor, pianist and musical editor, most active in the 1960s through the 1980s.
While studying piano and composition at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome,

he befriended Ennio Morricone and formed a long working relationship,

with Nicolai eventually conducting for and co-scoring films with Morricone.

Morricone noted in an interview discussing the Dollars Trilogy:

"I chose a great musician and friend to be my conductor, Bruno Nicolai,

who conducted almost every score of mine from that point on until 1974.".
Nicolai also scored a number of giallo exploitation films and wrote many scores for director Jesús Franco.
Nicolai's compositions are characterized by their rich orchestration and innovative use of instruments, 

including bells, anvils, and whips, elements that became synonymous with the spaghetti western sound. 

He also explored various musical styles, from classical to avant-garde,

and was known for his work in library music, founding the labels Gemelli and Edi-Pan.
His work was also featured in Tarantino's films "Kill Bill: Volume 2" and "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood".
"All The Colors Of The Dark" (Italian: Tutti I Colori Del Buio) is a 1972 giallo film directed by Sergio Martino

and starring George Hilton, Edwige Fenech, Ivan Rassimov, Julián Ugarte, George Rigaud, Susan Scott and Marina Malfatti.

The film was also released under the alternate titles "Day Of The Maniac" and "They're Coming To Get You!".

 A project that started in the late 80s by Mexican female multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Margarita Saavedra.
Her work explore the experimental scene with risky blends of musical genres achieving a sonic amalgamation.
While her basic tracks feature vocals and piano, Alquima enhances her recordings with layers of looped vocals,

electronic processors, sound effects, samples, synthesizers, gongs and bells.

The result is a sound that combines the musical traditions of Latin America

with influences of avant-garde, classical and improvisational music.
Alquimia developed an early love of music and singing, partly from her mother, a classical opera singer.

She went on to study in France and Canada, before making her permanent home in England.

Although she has often been far from home, her interest in the ethnic musical styles of her home country

made her learn various pre-Columbian percussion instruments and flutes,

while her search for new sounds inspired her use of modern music technology.
Alquimia has recorded many albums, both as a solo artist and with writers and musicians such as Hans-Joachim Roedelius,

Rüdiger Gleisberg, Peter Mergener, Anton Zinkl, Mark Powell, Art Of Infinity, Carlos Robledo and others.

"The Hidden" is a 1987 American sci fi-horror action film directed by Jack Sholder,

written by Jim Kouf (under the pseudonym Bob Hunt), and released by New Line Cinema.

It stars Kyle MacLachlan and Michael Nouri, along with Clu Gulager,

Chris Mulkey, Ed O'Ross, Clarence Felder, Claudia Christian and Larry Cedar.
Director Jack Sholder was drawn to the film because of the script.

Writer Jim Kouf had originally expressed interest in directing, but when the studios refused, he lost interest in the script. Sholder, who saw the potential to turn it into more than an action film,

did a rewrite to heighten the themes of what it means to be human.
The score was composed by American musician Michael Convertino (born 1952 in New York City) 

best known for his collaborations with director Randa Haines on films like "Children Of A Lesser God", "The Doctor",

"Wrestling Ernest Hemingway", and "Dance With Me", as well as "Bull Durham",

"Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead" and the Tim Allen comedies "The Santa Clause" and "Jungle 2 Jungle".

Nightmare Lodge started in June 1987 as a musical project founded by Minus Habens Records / Disturbance founder

Ivan Iusco alongside vocalist B. Mazzilli and bass player Gianni Mantelli,

when the trio decided to embark on a path in search of their own dreamlike musical dimensions.
Soon they entered a small recording studio in Bari to record their first cassette "Big Mother In The Strain",

that was released on December 12, 1987 as the first publication of Minus Habens founded in the same year by Iusco.
After a few months, because of trivial disputes, the lineup was changed.
Ivan found himself completely alone deciding the Nightmare Lodge destiny.
In the meantime, he met female vocalist M. Cioce, that was selected

to be involved in two tracks on the split LP "The Oneiric Transgression / Noise And Dream",

with the Roman band Lyke Wake, the first vinyl release of Minus Habens Records in 1989.
When the album was out, M. Cioce left and B. Mazzilli returned.

Nightmare Lodge succeeded to assemble two new works across 1990 and 1991,

a split LP, " Ice Skin / The Gospel According To The Men In Black" with the band Blackhouse and a tape entitled "Asylum".
These two releases marked a long retirement period for the duo

caused by the compulsory military service that overwhelmed Ivan and B. Mazzilli.
In that time Nightmare Lodge produced only some tracks on various compilations around the world.
With the relocation of Mazzilli in Veneto in 1992 and the collaboration of Ivan Iusco with the Belgian Dirk Ivens for Dive,

the post-industrial period of Nightmare Lodge closed.
When Ivan came back from the military service he was busy in raising again his record label Minus Habens.
Due to this, the Nightmare Lodge inactivity existed until 1994.
In that year a new friendship born with the mysterious Russolo,

a very talented electronic composer passionate with horror and science fiction cinema.
A perfect union was made and since then Nightmare Lodge released a CD trilogy

("Negative Planet", "Luminescence", "The Enemy Within"),

that received considerable attention from critics and audiences in various countries.
In 1998 Nightmare Lodge composed the soundtrack (in collaboration with the Sicilian musician Paolo Bigazzi)

of the independent science fiction film "Syrena" by Mariano Equizzi

followed by two albums ("Blind Miniatures" and "Tentacled") for the U.S. label Red Stream.
In the summer of 2000, Nightmare Lodge, with guitarist Nicola Cipriani,

performed live for the first time in Calabria a soundtrack written specifically for the film "The War Of The Worlds".
Ivan Iusco has also involved with the project It and composed two songs for the sci-fi video game "Cyberpunk 2077".

Drowned God: Conspiracy Of The Ages is a 1996 science fiction adventure game

developed by Epic Multimedia Group and published by Inscape.

The game propounds the conspiracy theory that all of human history is a lie

and that the human race's development and evolution were aided by extraterrestrials.

The player attempts to uncover the truth through the course of the game by traveling to a variety of different worlds,

interacting with historical and fictional characters, and solving puzzles.
Drowned God is based on a forged manuscript written by Harry Horse in 1983,

purported to have been written by 19th-century poet Richard Henry Horne, who shares Horse's birth name.

After facing legal trouble and fines when he attempted to sell the text,

Horse shelved it until playing Myst and The 7th Guest in the mid-1990s,

whereupon he decided a first-person adventure game would be the best way to tell the manuscript's story.
William S. Burroughs was originally scheduled to narrate the game, but died just before he could begin recording.
Drowned God's haunting and atmospheric music was written and performed by the ambient UK music duo,

Tom Smyth & Will Joss, operating under the name Miasma.

Dark Ambient project from France, founded by Nicolas D. Faure

 (Dies Sanguini, Kurotokage, Ligeia's Sore Neurosis, Les Amants Maudits, Ephel Duath) in 1994.
The first demo tape, "Dance In The Winter Fog",

was released in the same year and was a mixture of dungeon synth and black metal.
In 1997 Asmorod released on Solistitium Records their first full-length album titled "Involution Toward Chtonian Depths",

which saw the participation of Cédric Codognet (Sator Absentia) and Vanessa Hidden.

With this album the project started to provide its typical mysterious,

deep dark ambient that distinguishes them from other releases of the same style.
Other albums followed, "A Faint Light Below" in 1998, "Derelict" in 1999, and "Hysope" in 2006.

Black Tape For A Blue Girl is an American dark wave band formed in 1986

by keyboardist/songwriter Sam Rosenthal, the founder of Projekt Records.
Their music has elements of dark wave, ethereal, ambient, neoclassical, and dark cabaret.
The band released seven albums in their first 13 years, covering the mid-80s through late-90s.

Their debut album "The Rope" was released in 1986.

The band's line-up consisted of a core of Sam Rosenthal,

Allan Kraut (on multiple instruments, including drums and guitars) and vocalist and guitarist Oscar Herrera.
Their second album, "Mesmerized By The Sirens", was released a year later, followed by "Ashes In The Brittle Air" in 1989,

"A Chaos Of Desire" in 1991 and "This Lush Garden Within" in 1993.

The core members through this period were Rosenthal and Herrera, with a variety of guest musicians.
Recording of "Remnants Of A Deeper Purity" began in 1995 in Los Angeles and was concluded in 1996.

This was the second album to feature Lucian Casselman on vocals and Vicki Richards on violin.
In 1999, the band released "As One Aflame Laid Bare By Desire", with Oscar Herrera singing two songs on the album

as a parting favor to Rosenthal. The album owes some artistic inspiration to Marcel Duchamp.
Julianna Towns returned for female vocals and also provided guitar arrangements.

After a 15 city tour in July 1998 in preparation for the album's release, she was ejected from the band.
Elysabeth Grant joined the band as violist, but she soon became the lead vocalist

for the band's seventh studio album, "The Scavenger Bride".
Male vocal duties were given to Bret Helm (of Audra) and Athan Maroulis (of Spahn Ranch).
"The Scavenger Bride" was released in 2002, with only two live appearances, as Rosenthal's son was born.
Two years later, the album "Halo Star" was released, which shifted the vocal focus to Bret Helm.
This release also marked a change in the band's lush, ethereal sound,

with a dark cabaret musical style, very similar to the Dresden Dolls and Katzenjammer Kabarett.
In 2009 Athan Maroulis, who appeared on two songs on "The Scavenger Bride" album,

as well as on a cover of Dead Can Dance's "Fortune Presents Gifts Not According To The Book", took over as lead vocalist.
On September 22, 2009, the band released their 10th album, "10 Neurotics",

with the lineup of Rosenthal on acoustic guitar, programming and keyboards,

Brian Viglione (The Dresden Dolls) on drums, percussion, bass and guitar,

and vocalists Maroulis (Spahn Ranch), Laurie Reade (ex-Attrition) and Nicki Jaine on additional vocals.
From 2013 to 2021 four more albums were released while their 30th anniversary in 2016 with the release of "These Fleeting Moments", was marked with the return of original vocalist Oscar Herrera after 17 years absence from the music scene.

Agonije was another project by Italian artist Angel G. Villani (also in Black Raven).
The first work of Agonije was published in 1991 with the cassette "Orgasme Du Temp" on the Italian label Hax.
Later in 1992 some tracks from the cassette appeared on the Italian compilation "Tecnologie Del Movimento II".
"Testament" was released in 1994 on the Swiss label Allegoria 

and recorded at Acqualuce Studio and Radio Video Studio in Turin between 1993-94.

Baroque is a roguelike role-playing video game developed by Sting Entertainment.

It was originally released for the Sega Saturn in 1998 by Entertainment Software Publishing,

then ported to the PlayStation the following year.

A remake for PlayStation 2 and Wii was released in Japan by Sting Entertainment in 2007 and later overseas in 2008.
Baroque is set in a post-apocalyptic world,

where an experiment to understand the Absolute God caused devastating climate change,

with surviving humans becoming physically twisted by manifestations of guilt.

This experiment was led by a being called Archangel.

The protagonist is guided by Archangel through the Neuro Tower to find the Absolute God and fix the world.

All versions of the game feature dungeon-crawling through randomly-generated floors of the Neuro Tower,

with deaths in the dungeon advancing the narrative.

The original uses a first-person perspective,

while he remake includes a third-person camera and adjustable difficulty levels.
The game was conceived by Kazunari Yonemitsu,

who was involved in multiple aspects of its design and created the narrative.

Originally in production for the PC-9800 series, Yonemitsu's wish for 3D graphics resulted in it shifting to the Saturn.

Its dark tone, a reaction to Yonemitsu's previous work, was influenced by European cinema and film noir.

The gameplay drew inspiration from Torneko no Daibōken: Fushigi no Dungeon.

The music was composed by Masaharu Iwata, who blended ambient noise and sound samples into the tracks.

Baroque was supported with several supplementary products, including a visual novel based on a promotional novella.

The remake featured new staff and several changes,including redone character designs from Kenjiro Suzuki and replacement music by in-house composer Shigeki Hayashi.
The music of Baroque was composed and arranged by Masaharu Iwata,

who had previously worked with Sting Entertainment on Treasure Hunter G.

When asking for music, Yonemitsu requested tracks that did not sound like music,

using the natural sound backgrounds of documentaries as reference

for creating natural emotion in an audience without using a separate musical track.

Sometimes as descriptions, Yonemitsu would send Iwata a short poem,

but even then it was difficult for Iwata to create satisfactory tracks.

When Iwata complained about a lack of reference material, Yonemitsu found some suitable musical tracks,

notably music from the anime Night Head and Adiemus albums by Karl Jenkins.

The tracks were designed to be listened to alongside the in-game sound effects.
The first song created for the soundtrack was "Sanctuary".

Originally planned as a story location theme, it was reused as a dungeon track.

While an opening theme was created by in-house composer Toshiaki Sakoda,

Iwata was asked to create a new opening theme.

Something he was able to do on the project that was new to him

was adding in sound effects to increase the ambience impact of his tracks.

The track was half a minute too long, so in-game it was cut short while the album release featured the full track.

The track "Confusion" was made entirely with sound effect samples.

He considered his strangest theme to be the track "Namu Ami", which he described as a meaningless Buddhist-like chant.

His last song was the staff roll "Hold Baroque Inside", which was a subdued piece based on the game's story themes.

Iwata described both the game's content and the music he had to create for it as entirely new to him at the time,

and was impressed by Yonemitsu's vision despite not understanding it at times.

Yonemitsu named all the tracks.

Short lived project formed in 1993 and led by author Aleš Pickar

 who together with Stefan Alt (aka Salt) were the two founders of the cult label Ant-Zen.
The band gathered many members among their releases featuring Aleš Pickar (keys, bass, drums, guitar, vocals, flute),

Erich Kogler (vocals, bass, piano), Katha (vocals), Peter Megele (guitar), Sirod Allabmort (vocals),

Uli Jenne (drums), Wolfgang Hierl (guitars, vocals, flute, keys) and Pia Horn (violin).
The Thieves Of Impressions later reshaped into the band Concrescence 

while Aleš Pickar, together with Brandon Gonsalves, was also involved with the ambient project Tidal Flow.

Semper Eadem was a French neo classical project created in 1995 by David Vallée with the help of Régis Decloquement.
After their first demo, "In Remembrance", and the departure of Régis, Vallée welcomed Rachel B. as a vocalist.
Rachel participated in the second demo cassette, “Ode To Sadness”, released on Vallée's personal label La Cadera.
David Vallée composed solo in 1998 the third Semper Eadem's CDr release "Les Arbres N'étaient Plus Comme Ceux D'hier".
A split CD followed in 2001 with the French medieval/neo folk band Maelifell on Cauldron Music.
"Divagations Esthétiques" released in 2005 as a limited to 30 copies CDr edition

containing as bonus two video clips presenting an enigmatic and aesthetic illustration of some of the titles.
Around 2007 David Vallée and Stéphane Flauder (Maelifell, Fin De Siècle etc.) created the project Post Mortem Photographs 

and released their one and only self titled album in 2009 on La Manufacture De Bruit label.
The last offering from Semper Eadem was released in 2010 entitled "Symphonies Irrationnelles".
David Vallée today continues with his other projects Lith and EKS.CENTER.

The Entity is a 1982 American supernatural horror film directed by Sidney J. Furie,

and written by Frank De Felitta, who adapted his 1978 novel of the same name.
The film stars Barbara Hershey as a single mother in Los Angeles who is tormented by an invisible assailant.
Like the novel, the film is based on the 1974 real paranormal phenomena case of Doris Bither,

a woman who claimed to have been repeatedly sexually assaulted by an invisible entity,

and who was observed by doctoral students at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Despite being filmed and planned for a release in 1981,

the movie was not released in worldwide theaters until September 1982 and February 1983 in the United States.
The film is interpreted as a parable for female sexual victimhood

and the lead character as a woman who "goes head-to-head with a gaggle of men (including the "entity" itself).
American composer of film and television scores Charles Harold Bernstein (born February 28, 1943)

composed the soundtrack of the movie.
Bernstein is a Daytime Emmy Award winner, and a two-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee.

During the 1980s, Bernstein scored the music for the horror films Cujo (1983),

A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984), April Fool's Day (1986) and Deadly Friend (1986).
Quentin Tarantino has included Bernstein's music from White Lightning and The Entity

in the soundtracks of his films Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003) and Inglourious Basterds (2009).
The complete collected orchestral/synth soundtrack of the movie was released for the first time in 2009 by Intrada

as a limited Edition CD of 1200 copies while in 2019 Wyrd War released on 666 copies the limited edition vinyl.
Recorded at Village Recorders studios in West Los Angeles and Bernstein’s Santa Monica studio in 1981,

sourced from Bernstein’s archives and featuring three bonus outtakes that provide a glimpse into his compositional process.

Blood is a 3D first-person shooter video game developed by Monolith Productions and published by GT Interactive.

The shareware version was released for MS-DOS on March 6, 1997,

while the full version was later released on May 21 in North America and June 20 in Europe.
The game follows the story of Caleb, an undead early 20th century gunslinger

seeking revenge against the dark god Tchernobog and features occult and horror themes.

Blood includes large amounts of graphic violence, a large arsenal of weapons

ranging from the standard to the bizarre, and numerous enemies and bosses.
Blood received largely positive reviews from critics upon its release, with many praising its creative level designs,

the humor (particularly its use of pop-culture references), atmosphere and its gameplay,

though some criticism was aimed at the game’s challenging difficulty.

It later gained a cult following from reviewers and it is considered to be one of the best games on the Build engine.
The Blood franchise was continued with two official expansion packs

titled Plasma Pak (developed by Monolith) and Cryptic Passage (developed by Sunstorm Interactive).

A sequel titled Blood II: The Chosen was later released on November 25, 1998.

Daniel Bernstein is a composer for video games and movies.

Born in Leningrad in the Soviet Union, he received a Bachelor in computer science

and an Master Of Arts in music composition from the University of Virginia.

Bernstein started in games in 1996 working in development and sound design.
He has also worked as a composer for Monolith Productions

where he collaborated with Guy Whitmore on titles such as Blood and Claw.

Outside of video games, he also wrote the soundtrack for the short movies "Kansas" in 1998 and "Maid Of Honor" in 1999.

Changing career, he joined WildTangent as the Director of Product Strategy, and later left in 2002 to create Sandlot Games.
While still acting as Sandlot's CEO, he returned to composition with the soundtrack to the film "The Penitent Man" in 2010.
Guy Whitmore is a composer specializing in video game music, notable for creating the soundtracks to Captain Claw,

Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza, Russian Squares, Peggle 2, Shivers, Shivers II: Harvest of Souls,

Blood, Blood II: The Chosen, Shogo: Mobile Armor Division and No One Lives Forever.

He is the co-founder of a music production company called Music Design Network 

and a founding member of the Seattle Composers Alliance.
Guy Whitmore has specialized in creating "adaptive music" for video games, using techniques such as cross-fading,

location-based music, and techniques to render music "on-the-fly" rather than using "pre-rendered" linear tracks.

The Pit And The Pendulum is a 1961 horror film directed by Roger Corman,

starring Vincent Price, Barbara Steele, John Kerr, and Luana Anders.

The screenplay by Richard Matheson was loosely inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's 1842 short story of the same name.
The film was the second title in the popular series of Poe adaptations released by American International Pictures,

the first having been Corman's House Of Usher released the previous year.
Like House, the film features widescreen cinematography by Floyd Crosby,

sets designed by art director Daniel Haller, and a film score composed by Les Baxter.

A critical and box-office hit, Pit's success convinced AIP and Corman to continue adapting Poe stories 

for another six films, five of them starring Vincent Price.

The series ended in 1965 with the release of The Tomb Of Ligeia.
Film critics have noted the film's strong influence on numerous subsequent Italian thrillers,

from Mario Bava's The Whip And The Body (1963) to Dario Argento's Deep Red (1975).
Stephen King has described one of Pit's major shock sequences

as being among the most important moments in post-1960 horror film.
Leslie Thompson "Les" Baxter (March 14, 1922 – January 15, 1996) was a best-selling American musician and composer.

After working as an arranger and composer for swing bands,

he developed his own style of easy listening music, known as Exotica and scored over 100 motion pictures.
Baxter studied piano at the Detroit Conservatory before moving to Los Angeles at Pepperdine College.
From 1943 on he played tenor and baritone saxophone for the Freddie Slack big band.
Abandoning a concert career as a pianist, he turned to popular music as a singer.
In 1950 Baxter started arranging and conducting for Capitol Records 

 and conducted the orchestra in two early Nat King Cole hits, "Mona Lisa" and "Too Young".

He also recorded Yma Sumac's first album: "Voice Of The Xtabay",

which can be considered one of the first recordings of Exotica.
In 1951 he made the original recording of "Quiet Village" which years later became a hit for Martin Denny.

In 1953 he scored his first movie, the sailing travelogue Tanga Tika.
With his own orchestra, he released a number of hits including "Ruby" (1953), "Unchained Melody" (1955),

"The Poor People Of Paris" (1956) and "Sinner Man" (1956).
"Unchained Melody" was the first million seller for Baxter and was awarded a gold disc.
"The Poor People Of Paris" also sold over one million copies.
He also achieved success with concept albums of his own orchestral suites: Le Sacre Du Sauvage, Festival Of The Gnomes,

Ports Of Pleasure, and Brazil Now, the first three for Capitol and the fourth on Gene Norman's Crescendo label.

The list of musicians on these recordings includes Plas Johnson and Clare Fischer.
Baxter also wrote the "Whistle" theme from the TV show Lassie.
In the 1960s, he formed the Balladeers, a conservative folk group in suits that at one time featured a young David Crosby.

Later he used some of the same singers from that group for a studio project called The Forum.

He worked in radio as musical director of The Halls Of Ivy and the Bob Hope and Abbott And Costello shows.
Like his counterparts Henry Mancini and Lalo Schifrin, Baxter worked in films in the 1960s and 1970s. 

He worked on movie scores for B-movie studio American International Pictures 

where he composed scores for Roger Corman's Edgar Allan Poe films and other horror and beach party films

including House Of Usher, The Pit And The Pendulum, The Raven, Muscle Beach Party and Beach Blanket Bingo.

He also composed a new score for the theatrical release of the 1970 horror film Cry Of The Banshee 

after AIP rejected Wilfred Josephs's original one.

Howard W. Koch recalled that Baxter composed, orchestrated and recorded

the entire score of The Yellow Tomahawk (1954) in a total of three hours for $5,000.
When soundtrack work fell off in the 1980s, he scored music for theme parks such as SeaWorld.
