Vaakevandring ‎– Demo 98/99 (Demo 1999)

Country: Norway

Tracklist
1. Fader Vaar 06:39
2. Some Day 04:19
3. Og Sorgen Stilnet I Smertens Vann 06:06

Vaakevandring was a Norwegian unblack metal band that was active from 1996 to 2007.
The band played atmospheric, symphonic unblack metal with keyboards and folk melodies.
Their "Demo 98/99" was produced by Stian Aarstad of Dimmu Borgir and gained world wide appreciation.
In 2000 they recorded a song entitled "Fall of Man" for Endtime Productions compilation "In the Shadow of Death".
Antestor's Lars Stokstad played guitars on that song.
Both Hansen and Magerøy joined the notable band Antestor around this time while still were members of Vaakevandring, Pål Dæhlen also joined Frosthardr.
Another bonus demo track recorded in 2001 called "To Find The Eternal Peace
was featured in the re-release of their "Demo 98/99" in 2004.
Despite releasing only one demo, Vaakevandring's influence on the unblack metal scene was significant
because they were one of the key bands to change the dominating "anti-satanism" lyrical theme
led by the genre-founder Horde to a more philosophical and emotional direction.
Vaakevandring were co-headliners with Antestor at Swedish Endtime Festival in 2007 which also was their last gig.
The Memory link contains the two bonus tracks "Fall of Man" and "To Find The Eternal Peace".

Samael are a long-running Swiss black metal band formed in 1987 in Sion, Switzerland.
Although much of their music from the mid-1990s onwards has incorporated electronic sounds,

which would best define their genre as industrial metal,
Samael was originally founded as an early 2nd wave black metal band.
Their first demos presented a slow, doomy style of black metal with raw vocals, similar to that of Celtic Frost

Some of the songs would be included on Worship Him (1991) and Blood Ritual (1992).
Around 1994 the band started using industrial-styled song techniques, employed by the use of keyboards

and (minimalist) acoustic percussion, a direction that they would take on future albums.
Ceremony Of Opposites is their second release with Century Media Records after leaving French label Osmose Productions.
It was recorded at Woodhouse Studios and produced by Waldemar Sorychta.
Also a video clip was made for the track Baphomet's Throne.
